As many of you know this years Torah Study we do live through the Zoom app every Friday is a beast in terms of content and texts being used each week for the various segments (Semeitic Language in the Torah Portion, Hasidic Theology, The Messiah in the Torah, The Midrash Rabbah on the Torah Portion, and the Zohar Reading).  Next year I want to simplify it.  Next year I am thinking of simplifying it for myself and for those who are engaging in the study as well.  On average I ready from 20 books each week to get all the notes from the study and next year, it may be good to focus on one commentary or one aspect of the Torah Portion cycle.  Here are some of the things I am thinking of doing and I want you guys to vote on which thing you want to see being taught on next year below:

  • The Masoretic and the Targums of Onkelos: In this study we would focus on the differences in renderings in the Aramaic Targums from the Masoretic text and chronicle the history of thought shown in the two texts.
  • The Commentaries of Or Hachaim: In this one we would go over the commentaries of the Or HaChaim and use the Artscroll series of the Or Hachaim in each Torah Portion and show their parallels to the New Testament.
  • The Commentaries of Rashi: Each week we will go through the Torah Portion in relation to the commentaries of Rashi and how they relate to the New Testament
  • The Commentaries of the Rambam: Each week we will go through the Torah Portion in ration to the commentaries of the Rambam and how they relate to the New Testament.
  • The Haftarah: Each week we would venture through the haftarah which is often neglected and look at the words of the sages in relation to the haftarah readings.
  • The New Testament Readings: We would use the weekly New Testament readings and dive into them through hasidic eyes, we would focus a lot on the words of th sages as well as the Khabouris Codex and Yonan Codex of the Aramaic and the Delitzsch Hebrew as well
