![]() Over the past 4 years on my radio program, I have said, "The Judaism of Yeshua is Hasidic Judaism before Hasidic Judaism even had a name." For the past few years that has been a radical statement in Messianic Judaism and I have been met with a great deal of resistance for this statement. The fact that my observance is a Hasidic observance, I have been seen odd by a great deal of the Messianic community. However, I was excited to see that Rabbi Yossi of Uganda founded "Lapid Judaism". According to the official Lapid website (www.LapidJudaism), Lapid Judaism is described as "Originally, faith in Yeshua the Messiah, as lived out by the early talmidim, was a very Jewish faith. Not “Jewish” simply in terms of ethnicity or culture but in practice as well. The early talmidim lived observant Jewish lives in accordance with Rabbinic Judaism of the period. As we learn in Acts, even many Pharisees believed. Lapid is a new sect of Judaism that seeks to restore that original Torah observant practice, faith and message." My issues with the Messianic Jewish faith have been numerous but I have surpassed it for some time. For instance, the wishy washy relationship with orthodox Judaism and oral Torah, lack of observance outside of half hearted Shabbat observance, the moedim in Leviticus 23 and a watered down version of kosher, not allowing conversion, teachers with minimal to no education in Judaism, focus on conspiracy theory and eschatology, just to name a few. This has been frustrating, for a long time now. So I was happy to find out about the Lapid Movement. Being skeptical about everything, I read their website searching for red flags, I was unable to find a single point I disagreed with, or something contradictory to what I, myself have taught for years now. Finding Lapid Judaism felt like coming home. So, we have decided here at Nazarene Media to do something we have not done since our founding, we are changing our name after I complete my 2nd set of Yeshiva courses. These courses I will be doing with Rabbi Yossi and am seeking ordination. When this happens we will become Lapid Media and be working to spread the message of Lapid Judaism through re-inventing PaRDeS Radio, and creating Lapid Memes, and bringing you the best Lapid Media on the internet. We will be doing a total and complete overhaul of every aspect of this ministry to make sure that it expresses the values and theology of Lapid Judaism.
